Labor Day weekend

Well it was a busy one. Started off with the Red Bull Manny Mania in Cincinnati OH, on Fountain Square on Friday. Normally you wouldn't find me at one of these but it's in my home town happening on an area that's illegal to skate on. Corporations can do about anything... Anyway, I filmed it and the footage should be on the Red Bull skateboarding site someday. Who knows. After that there was a City Skateboards demo at Ollies Skatepark in Florence KY (as far as indoor skateparks go, this is one of the best, it's a sleaper for shure, not getting the press that Tampa and Third Lair get. Built by team pain, you know it's quality. Anyway, done sounding like a commercial, the City Skateboard team was there doing a demo and promoting their new video, "What is a Bachinsky" unfortunately I didn't find out what a Bachinsky is because he didn't show up with the team. But those that did such as Jimmy Cao, Jeremy Reeves, and Russ Milligan were ripping the park. I think others were there but I'm not sure where they were skating. Those 3 ripped. I saw the video play over and over again before they showed up, it's a good one, check it if you can.

Ah, not to end the weekend yet. I went to Skatopia for a Saturday night stay (I decided to just stay one night, having spent many many many a night there in the past, I figured I'd get the low down on what's happening (a stage is being built in the field for the future Slayer show). While there I found out that a fight was going to take place in the bowl between the Skatopia Mechanic and the Skatopia Sheriff, it was then that I decided I had to cover this like a prize fight. The hype was great, Brewce had an official weight in and standard trash talk session, the hype machine was on. 12 noon was fight time. I will say without a doubt that the hype lasted longer than the fight, though, I wouldn't really have called it a fight, it looked more like "Naughty Nick" McNight (the Skatopia Mechanic) was humping Roger "The Sheriff" once he had wrestled him to the bottom of the bowl. Nick was quoted as saying "I don't want to hurt Roger, he just gets on my nerves"
